Welcome to our Groovy Motel

The Groovy Nomad is a locally owned and operated 1950’s roadside motel nestled between two mountains for your cozy getaway. Recently renovated to curate unique experiences driven by the bold personalities of each of the 10 rooms. The motel is located in the northwest corner of Georgia, only a twenty-five minutes drive to Chattanooga, TN, or stay local and spend the day at Cloudland Park just 5 minutes away. The Groovy Nomad’s location makes exploring simple as Atlanta, Birmingham, Knoxville, and Nashville are all a quick 2-hour drive.
Of the ten rooms to choose from, each has it’s own appointed funky theme allowing our guests to take a step back-in-time with mid-century modern vintage furniture and decor. The rooms feature a tiled walk-in shower, a microwave, a mini fridge, flat screen TV, coffee maker with the fixings and we include a park pass with your stay. The outside of The Groovy Nomad features colorful murals painted by local artist Keeley Farmer.

We started renovating this 1959 Motel formerly the Southland Motel, over a year ago. We are natives of Dade County and love our community. Driving past the motel each day, we knew one day we would hope to bring her back to life. It was a passion project for us to take the old rundown motel in our area and reinvent it into a place that will create memories for locals, travelers and those passing through.

“For the past year we have been working hard to bring life back to this little place,” Melissa said. “In June 2022 we opened up our first five rooms. Now all ten rooms are complete along with a beautiful courtyard to entertain and enjoy. We have big future plans for The Groovy Nomad” - Melissa Faircloth

The project included all new wiring, plumbing, windows, and doors. The only thing that is original are the walls and milk glass light fixtures outside.
“We ran into many challenges, but now it is rewarding to see so many enjoying The Groovy Nomad Motel,” Ryan said. “Since we started with Room 1 to where we are today, it is a night and day difference. It has been a dream to see people enjoying our motel” - Ryan Faircloth
